With a reputation as the favoured writer of the foodie elite, James he has co-authored the autobiographies of Marco Pierre White (The Devil in the Kitchen), Raymond Blanc (A Taste of My Life), Keith Floyd (Stirred But Not Shaken) and Ken Hom (My Stir-Fried Life).  He collaborated with maître d’ Fred Sirieix to write Secret Service.

His other books include The Kitchen Magpie and 50 Greatest Dishes of the World. James – who is a frequent consultant to top hoteliers and restaurateurs – reunited with Blanc to write Kitchen Secrets and Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons: The Story of a Modern Classic, and with White to produce Marco Made Easy, Essentially Marco and White Heat 25. James is based in London, and is a contributing editor to Waitrose Food magazine.
